The brand Bahar Yawazy was started by Dr. Bahar Yawazy, who other than being the CEO of the company is also its creative director. Established in 2018, our business focuses on trading and manufacturing of precious colour gemstone, jewellery manufacturing, wholesale and retail of jewellery. We also branched out into handicrafts and accessories in late 2019. We source our rough gemstones from mines based in Afghanistan, Zambia, and Mozambique. Our strategic tie ups with leading cutters and polishers based in Kabul, Jaipur and Bangkok fulfils our requirement for polished gemstones. Our jewellery ismanufactured by Afghan women who work in our workshop in the centre of Kabul. Additionally, we also have manufacturing tie ups with manufacturers in India and Thailand. We have initiated the process of setting up a world class design centre in Kabul,which will train Afghan ladies in jewellery and handicraft designing and manufacturing.

Our Team
Our inhouse team consist of designers, gemstone cutters, polishers and gemmologist. The core 11-member inhouse team is based in Kabul and they are supported by a team of freelancer’s based in Dubai, Jaipur, Mumbai and Hong Kong.

DR. BAHAR YAWAZY
Specialized in the procurement & manufacturing of precious stones
Born in Kabul Afghanistan, Dr Bahar Yawazy is a practising doctor. At an early age she moved to Pune India, to pursue her education. Bahar completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Master’s degree Personnel Management and alsodiploma International Relationship and Human Rights in addition to her medical degree.
In 2008 she entered the gemstone business. Initially working as a commission agent wherein she imported rough gemstones from Afghanistan and sold it in Jaipur market. From 2012 – 2017 she worked as a jewellery designer with multiple Indian Jewellers.
She also consulted Indian jewellers to source their gemstones directly from traders in Afghanistan at better prices.
Bahar set up Bahar Yawazy Ltd, after returning to Afghanistan in 2018, following the completion of her medical degree in October 2017. The experience which she gained while working with jewellers in India gave her the motivation to set up the business to explore opportunities in gemstone sector in terms of exports of Afghanistan gemstones and handicrafts to other countries.
She also regularly consults mining companies based abroad about the potential of mining gemstones in Afghanistan.
